Sonification as a new exploratory method of corpus analysis (previous version)

Slow and fast versions:
Section 1.1 shows a slow version of the sonification, section 1.2 a fast version. Different text genres included in the GUM corpus (Zeldes, 2017) are represented in separate sound files.
In the slow version, approximately 1/12 of the sentences have been included in the sonification. Each sentence lasts 1 second.
The fast version represents the entire GUM corpus. Each sentence lasts 1/12 second.
We recommend to start by listening to the isolated timbres given in section 2, in order to learn to distinguish them in the sonification.
Separate features/instruments:
The linguistic features are mapped onto different timbres, which are listed below (in slow version). All other features/instruments are muted.
