Workshop: Agent-based modeling (interactive tutorial session)
December 18th, 2015
Christoph Salge (University of Hertfordshire)
at the Sociolinguistic Lab (Meister-Eckehart-Str. 11, 1st floor)
Agent-based modeling is a computer simulation technique for modeling and understanding possible changes in populations. In linguistics, it is more known among phonologists, but it has recently made its way into sociolinguistic research on variation and change (e.g. Fagyal et al. 2010; Stanford & Kenny 2013). During this interactive tutorial session the computer scientist Christoph Salge will introduce the basic elements and parameters that are important in the implementation of agent-based modeling.
